The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of is simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its lovliness. ~Therese of Lisieux

Okay i would like to start by saying how proud i am of my husband!!!! Yesterday morning he presented his masters project, and not only did they love it (which of course they should!!) but they told him it was publish-able, and stated they would love to have him come in as a guest teacher, and that they would love to have him in their Phd program!!!!! I just love it when the rest of the world notices how brilliant he is!! And, yes, im bragging! BUt, he’s MY husband..so, i figure, im allowed!!!!!!!! So, a big congratulations to mark, who will be officially graduating next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

And, while we’re on the the topic of congratulations-

I would like to send out a big CONGRATULATIONS to SisterMD, who is graduating from medical school this weekend!!!!! And, a big CONGRATULATIONS to BrotherInLawMD who is graduating from medical school next weekend!!!!!

I also want to say HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! to MomMD! to Pink Queen! to Mom Wood! and a special Mothers Day greeting to the new mothers in our family Laura and Karen!!!

Sorry its been awhile since we’ve posted…but the afore mentioned masters project sort of took over the computer! But, it is done now, and i am both proud and grateful! Maybe now mark will have a little extra time to, i dont know, breath, eat, sleep..spend time with his wife!!! We had hoped to take a three day weekend and go on our first serious hiking trip of the season! However, the evil powers of the corporate world said they could not possibly spare mark this friday(i suppose its always good to be needed!) But, we decided, we still really wanted to go. we had already planned the trip, and we’re in good shape..so, instead of hiking 30miles in three days, we are now going to attempt it in two!!! Maybe abit ambitious..but i am soooo excited all the same. We are going to hike the West Rim Trail (which is in central Pennsylvania)!! It follows the Pine Creek Gorge, and it is supposed to be absolutly beautiful!! And, of course, since mark and i are planning a hiking trip, it is supposed to rain..but, i dont care!! We are going to have a marvelous time!!!

In other news, since i last posted…i proclaimed war on the dandylions and crabgrass in our front circle flower bed!!! I spent like an entire week weeding. I added lovely composted top soil. I bought a soaker hose. I bought all sorts of pink and purple annuals. And, it looked beautiful!- for like three days. And then, we got a late frost-and half of it died! So, as usual, my front circle garden looks pretty sad:( Im going to see if i can whine my way into a refund on the flowers, they all came with big stickers that said GARANTEED TO GROW!!! Either way, it looks like ill be replanting when we get back from our hike!

Ive also been busy in vegetable garden! For the first year our asparagus seems to be thriving…sort of… i mean, its growing really well, but something other than me is enjoying it..who knew deer like asparagus!? Ive also managed to get all my spring seeds in…romaine, some other lettuce mark picked out, beets, sugar snap peas, carrots, parsnips, and fennel. The onions, brussel sprouts and tomatos that we started indoors are also ready to go out, so that is another project for next week. The indoor herbs have not been going nearly so well…and im really not sure why, maybe they are just really picky..but so far ive managed to kill off six of the twelve flat leaf parsley plants that originally sprouted. five of the six purple basil, three of the six thyme, all the lemon basil, and the rosemary never sprouted. Thankfully all the classic sweet basil seems to be thriving..as was the catnip…until the cat found it (while i was growing it for her, i had hoped to get the plants more than two inches tall before she demolished them…oh well)!

Anyways, i hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!

Congratulations, Mark!! And Katherine, thank you for the Mother’s Day wishes. Also glad you will be updating more now – we missed all the news from Greene!!

  2. MomMD Says:

    Oh Mark I’m so proud!!!

Miriams graduation was great! Your Dad’s cap was to big and kept listing and we put her hood on upsidedown but it was still great.

Mark , KC has every reason to brag! I am delighted to hear that your presentation for your Master’s Project went so well although that is not surprising!! Congratulations upon your achievement and best wishes for many more in your future! I think that Dr. Seuss would agree that you are destined to “go far”!!!
